Hey all,
At this year's Burn I kept smelling the same incredibly intoxicating scent on people. The only way I can describe it is that it reminded me of amber and benzoin. Kinda had that same heady, make-you-hungry, simultaneously-sweet-and-musky quality... A little floral, but only in that mildly spicy tigerlilly way. I think it's probably some kind of resin. Smelled it most @ Cyphertown, Entheon, and Nexus... I know scents seem to come and go in popularity, (kinda like Palo Santo is dominating the incense/smudging market right now...), so I'm hoping one of you lovely scent-aholics will be able to clue me in to what this delicious mystery scent is!
Thanks!!!

Re: The scent of the Burn
Mon, September 15, 2008 - 1:11 AMDoubt if it was mine, but I did gift a decent sized spray bottle of my Cardamon Kiss to a new friend in the areas you mentioned... no amber or benzoin... but spicy & sweetish (and I don't mean Swedish!) ;)
Other than that, since the burn, I've been thinking of mixing with whiskey or bourbon instead of grain alcohol or vodka, to get a smokier wood scent - has anyone been mixing with this?
I have some of the Palo Santo oil, but I much prefer it burned as incense... -

Mon, September 15, 2008 - 3:43 PMIt wasn't quite as edible as cardamom, but speaking of which, Whole Foods carries the most delicious cardamom "Fruit" mix by Aura Cacia. Only problem is that it doesn't last very long at all :( I still highly recommend it, though..

That sounds amazing. Let me know how it works out... -

Re: The scent of the Burn
Sat, October 4, 2008 - 12:46 AMHey I don't want to curb your enthusiasm, but I am a celiac (allergic to wheat) and mixing with whiskey or bourbon would make people like us get a horrible allergic reaction...
'just thought I'd mention it -

Sun, October 5, 2008 - 9:01 PMAh. Well I make most of my fragrances for myself, but I will def keep this in mind & list it on the label if I mix with grain-based alcohols - thanks.
