But I love to smell pretty. I have been using straight frankincense for a while, but would like to find some variations that won't attract the little buggers....Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Re: I'm allergic to bees....
Thu, September 10, 2009 - 9:20 AMfrom what I understand, looking at scientifc behavior of bees and such, is that they are only truly drawn to floral scents as far as fragrance is concerned. The other attractant is bright colors (like the kind on most flower petals). Those are like directions to bees saying "COME GET ME!!!) As far as I know, olibanum trees don't attract bees. Not that I am discounting your experience, but that really gives me a head scratcher as to why bees would be attracted to straight up frankincense, unless it is how it combines with your personal body fragrance.
my suggeestion would be to avoid florals completely, and maybe look into other resins, like myrrh, or mastic (if you are feeling like spending ALOT of money) or benzoin, or any of the other number of resins out there. -

Re: I'm allergic to bees....
Thu, September 10, 2009 - 1:16 PMI have been using frankincense and not having a problem....I just would like to jazz it up a bit and find some variations....I'll look into some of those resins though, and thank you for the suggestion!
It's been a bit of a drag to change what I wear and how I smell, but I guess we all have some cross to bear....Thanks again!

Re: I'm allergic to bees....
Fri, September 18, 2009 - 5:42 PMi would think that any scent that isn't floral wouldn't attract them. but if you want to be extra-sure, you could also avoid fruity and sweet scents. that would still leave you with lots of herbal, woodsy and spicy scents: oakmoss, cedarwood, pine, fir, mints, eucalyptus, cinnamon, cardamom, coriander, black pepper, etc. -
