Real jasmine is supposed to smell poopy. That's because of the indoles which naturally occur in many white flowers, though you normally do not notice unless you stuff your nose in one. And with absolutes, they do not usually smell poopy if you dilute them. But straight out of the bottle... yes, poopy. That means they're real, O.K.?
Eden botanicals has some amazing jasmines, and they will you send you samples for only a couple of bucks. If you are looking for something a bit less stinky they have an organic extract which is milder. I think the jasmine sambac may be somewhat less indolic but it is a matter of taste.

For night, look out for perfumes containing jasmine sambac, it's very rich and full bodied, perfect for night wear. :)
