Re: oils for depression, energy release, uplifting??
Mon, April 23, 2007 - 10:12 PMYou can check out any aromatherapy book and it will give a list of oils reputed to help "depression." But I have found that the best oil will be one that you have a strong attraction to, one that really pulls at your imagination. This can involve sampling different ones. As far as traditional oils for stuck, stagnant yucky... all the citrus oils have a tradition of "cutting through" or clearing. Most people find that one in particular will be especially good. Unfortunately you might associate lemon with cleaning products too much, so you can try blood orange or bergamot or tangerine. Grapefruit and yuzu are great. Neroli is very ethereal but pretty expensive. Lime, again, you might have associations with cocktails or maybe it will be the ultimate fresh green citrus for you.

Tue, April 24, 2007 - 6:20 AMHi Stacey
I like to use a blend of Spearmint, Peppermint, Rosemary, and Ecualyptus. This combination is very energizing.

Wed, April 25, 2007 - 5:56 PMGreat question, I'm curious on this, too.
Personally, I've had a great response to orange oil. On another note, have you ever tried Bach's Rescue Remedy? -

Thu, April 26, 2007 - 2:41 AMI like Bergamot but James is right, you need to find the oil that works with you.
Finding the blend that suits you could be lots of fun.

Re: oils for depression, energy release, uplifting??
Thu, May 24, 2007 - 8:54 PMi have been reading dr penoel's books on this subject
thanks for giving me the opportunity to look into this
in france, they take the medicinal qualities of essential oils very seriously
his books give extensive details on what, where, when, how and why
(i use his food-grade blends in pure water drinking for liver cleansing & other conditions)
he speaks of depression as an entirely different topic
than energy release, than uplifting, than lethargy
and when he discuss depression, he goes into different types
he talks about frankincense and myrrh a lot when addressing emotional cleansing
i agree wholeheartedly with james - EXPERIMENT AND DISCOVER
for me, i use rosemary almost every night
because it has healing qualities for those that have experienced childhood trauma
i use lavendar ALOT
during the day, orange and/or lemon pick me up always!
i frequently spritz the office when things get hectic
