So now now that I' m currently working a job where even slight b.o. is problematic and I CAN'T STAND just about every store-bought deodorant that I've tried/smelled, I was wondering what else there is that I can do? Any recommendations? It's amazing how bad all deodorants smell; worse than pit-reek really.

Re: stank-ass pits: deodorant alternatives?
Thu, May 15, 2008 - 1:29 AMTea Tree oil has antibacterial properties, and bacterial is part of what contributes to the unpleasant "bo.. " smell.
I have been using it for years with no ill effects besides a slightly mediciney smell if I use too much.

Thu, May 15, 2008 - 8:16 AMbaking soda applied to pits that are slightly damp (not wet). if the baking soda is too gritty by itself, you can mix it with cornstarch for a softer feel. lavender and patchouli essential oils are also antibacterial.

Thu, May 15, 2008 - 8:43 AMI consider this the triple threat
Acquire a soap in a smell you like, and don't mind smelling like all day. I highly recommend something using true essentials and not synthetic fragrances.
After bathing in that, make or acquire a lotion with the similar scent, and use that all over your body
Finally, make or acquire a scented oil or perfume with similar scent ( does anyone make not synthetically fragranced perfumes anymore) and put that on lightly at pulse points, arm pits, elbows, knees etc.
I have used that on and off, and I have loved its effect of creating a whole body scent, without it being overwhelming. It tends to fade faster if you exerting yourself heavily, or sweating profusely. You can increase the amount of the final touches if you know thats going to happen.
Does anybody still sell those deodorant salt crystal chunks that were so popular 10 years ago? -

I think most health food stores still carry them. I've been using them for years. -
